December Tech Tip:
Having a REST-ful mood
Without any doubt, ShortPoint Connect is one of the most powerful features that helps you bring your intranet to a new level. Using the ShortPoint REST API connection type, you can get data from your sites or the other sources on the internet and display it on your pages.
In most cases, when configuring your connection, you only need the REST API URL. If you need to perform some modifications on the data retrieved by the API, for example, selecting or filtering specific items, check this article that will help you out: ShortPoint REST API: Selecting, Filtering, Sorting Results in a SharePoint List.
REST API is very powerful: there are some advanced modifications that you can set up. Enable Advanced Settings option and add one or more of the functions to your connection. The articles below will show how to do it and when you might find it useful:
- Modify URL Parameters Function for Your ShortPoint REST API Connection
- Modify the URL Path Function for Your ShortPoint REST API Connection
- Map Results Function for Your Custom ShortPoint REST APIs
P. S. For your convenience, we have prepared a folder with useful REST API solutions that you can try out yourself.
The Faces of ShortPoint
Meet Sami, Our Founder and CEO
Today we would like you to meet a person without whom there would be no ShortPoint at all. Yes, we are talking about Sami AlSayyed, our founder and CEO. In 2013, sitting in his living room, Sami was writing the very first lines of ShortPoint code. Look at ShortPoint now: a powerful subscription software used to design and build innovative intranet sites without coding, appreciated and used by many worldwide companies.
Sami lives in Dubai, UAE, with his lovely wife Svitlana, a gymnastics coach. They have two adorable dogs – Whity and Luna (you had a chance to see them if you watched our company update videos).
Sami is a very active person. An important part of his life that brings him energy, joy and motivation for more achievements, is padel tennis. He has been playing it for a little more than a year now, and already won his first championship!
But not only padel tennis. One of the best things he likes to do in Ukraine is go hiking to the Carpathian mountains. Fresh air, amazing views and watching the stars in the night sky – this is what he enjoys the most.
Sami says there should be nothing that you need to change about yourself. You need to accept yourself with all your flaws and imperfections. Only then you can truly be in harmony with your life.
